Week 1 Crime drama studies Analysis:
Summary: Whitechapel is an english crime drama, of where the crime is based around a historical crime event, so the crime is replicated in a modern way. It is a series, that is aired a new year for a new series.
Codes and Conventions: Whitechapel is a typical english drama with the main detective(character) as a white british male. The audience it is aimed at is teenagers and adults as it is aired just after the watershed which suggests that it may contain some violence and swearing with adult themes. It is shown by ITV a big british TV channel for crime drama so is easily reconisable by other crime watchers.
Description of episode watched (episode 2, series 3): In this episode, it was based around a person who decides to kill people who's family or friends have hurt him. The episode is shown in a dark kind of way, with dull lighting and melodic ways of speaking. This opens it up to be watched by an audience who are interested in crime drama's like series where they can get involved and be able to relate more to the storylines than that of something like CSI.
